1.         On Sunday, November 18, Rev. Fred Hammond‘s sermon title will be “Transgender Day of Remembrance.”  The choir will sing, directed by Will Whitehead and accompanied by Barbara Jensen.

2.         On Sunday, November 25, MUUF member Chris MacCormack will lead the service with a message about “UUSC Guest At Our Table.” Music by Barbara Jensen.

3.         Sunday morning coffee hour ~ Thank you to the Worship Team, Audio/Visual, and Knitters   for hosting coffee hour last Sunday morning ~ preparing the coffee and snacks, setting everything out, and cleaning up afterwards. Spreading out the work between committees gives everyone a chance to participate. Make it fun! This coming Sunday, the Bridge Group will have the privilege of serving. Thank you for coming forward to help when you see we need some extra hands in the kitchen. Sunday morning coffee hour is an important part of our ministry ~ to our guests and to each other. Thanks to everyone who sees a job that needs to be done and does it, without being asked.

4.         MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW FOR MUUF’S ANNUAL AUCTION!! SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10.  Be thinking about items and services you would like to offer. There will be a planning meeting after the service on Sunday, Nov. 18. We need your help!

5.         Thank you to Ed Janz and Melissa Kinder (and sweet dog Eunice) and all who participated in The ED Show last Friday following the Share a Dish dinner. A special thanks to Barbara Jensen for serving as accompanist. It was especially nice to have Bob and Jolie Ennis with us that night.

6.         Enjoy the photography art exhibit in the sanctuary titled, “ Images of Wonder.” Photographers are Rev. Fred L Hammond, Cheryl Van Cleaf  and AJ Wolff, MFA.

7.         Social Justice Committee’s Wish List Giving continues:  This Sunday, November 18, we are concluding our November Wish List Giving campaign for SafePlace2B teen shelter; items will be delivered on Monday, November 19.  Our December Wish List Giving campaign is a Wish Tree for Turning Points.  You’ll see the tree at the back of the sanctuary on Sunday, November 25.  More details about this on Nov 25th! Thank you, Barbara McCrea, for dedicating time and energy to this worthy program.

8.         The MUUF Book Sale brought in over $65.00 ~ not bad for an event where most items sold for 50 cents!

9.         The Book Group will discuss “Good and Mad: The Revolutionary Power of Women’s Anger” by Rebecca Traister at our December meeting on Monday, December 3, 2PM. “An angry woman . . . is irrational, hormonal, out of control, incapable, crazy.”  Really? Come and join the discussion.

10.       Last chance to sign up for our Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner, Thursday, November 22nd, 1PM. On the sign up sheet on the social room table you will see the foods and jobs to choose from. Please print what you will bring and what job you are willing to do. Everyone is welcome! Thank you, Becky Smith, for organizing this MUUF family event every year.

11.       Final Film.  As of now the 1st Saturday Film events will end with the December 1 film. Join your friends in the sanctuary for a showing of Bag It: Is Your Life Too Plastic? What starts as a film about plastic grocery bags evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic and its effect on our waterways, oceans and even our own bodies. 79 minutes.

12.       Read the article in the current UPDATE about Dr. Beau Braden and his efforts to open a 25 bed rural hospital in the Immokalee area and talk with Joan Butcher about what you can do.

1.         EVERY FRIDAY   Stand With Our Muslim Neighbors (Indivisible Pro-gressive)  1:15pm – 2:30pm Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton, 4350 N Lockwood Ridge Rd, Sarasota. Every Friday we hold signs outside the Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton during Friday prayers in a show of support for our Muslim neighbors.

6. Social Justice Committee’s Wish List Giving continues: Our Wish List Giving campaign for November will be a Thanksgiving collection for SafePlace2B, a youth shelter in Bradenton. But we have to hurry because our collection deadline is Sunday, Nov 18th – that’s so we can deliver the items before Thanksgiving! See details on the RED bin in the Social Room.

A spokesperson will speak briefly in the social room following Sunday, Nov 11 service and will be available to to answer any questions about the SafePlace2B program.

7. The MUUF Book Sale will be open Friday, November 9, before & after the Share a Dish Dinner and ED Show and on Sunday, November 11 before and after the service.

8. The Book Group will have a special meeting this month. On Monday, November 12, at 2PM we will be joined by the author of the book we have been reading. Bradenton resident Jane Plitt, will be our guest to discuss her book Martha Matilda Harper. Even if you haven’t read the book, join us and learn the story of one of America’s least known entrepreneurs. Refreshments will be served. Our thanks to Mary Lou Thompson for arranging this event.

1. On Monday November 12, the League of Women Voters of Manatee County will hold an educational program titled “Helping the Homeless.” The (free) program will be held at the Bradenton Woman’s Club, 1705 Manatee Ave W, from Noon to 1PM. A buffet luncheon will be available at 11:30AM. ($5 donation)
