November 24, 2019 10/30 am - 11/30 am

Speaker:  Guest Speaker: Chris MacCormack for Unitarian Universalist Service Committee program

Pianist:  Barbara Jensen

Chalice Lighter: Randy Coleman

Coffee Hour Host: Choir

Chris MacCormack has been MUUF’s emissary from The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee for many years. Her travels over many parts of the world make her very knowledgeable about situations worldwide. Chris was a Peace Corps worker in San Salvador, then was Spanish teacher at Manatee High School. When she retired she traveled abroad teaching English: to Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Honduras, Turkey, Thai land, and Japan .

The UUSC, a partner organization with UUA, is a nonprofit organization advancing human rights and social justice with 80 grassroots partners in the US and worldwide. This year makes 80 years since Martha and Waitstill Sharp started the UUSC assisting refugees in Europe. Chris says (and MUUF members agree) that when I want to make a contribution after an emergency or for a cause such as immigration reform, I know that my funds sent through UUSC will be put to very good use.

UUSC advances human rights through grassroots collaboration. In more than a dozen countries throughout the world, UUSC fosters social justice and works toward a world free from oppression. UUSC’s innovative approaches and measurable impact are grounded in the belief that all people have inherent power, dignity, and rights.
Every November our fellowship has a Guest At Your Table Sunday service.

It is a good way to learn about the work of UUSC and a perfect time to renew our individual membership for $40 or make donations. We currently have 24 members and in 2018 we earned the Creating Justice Banner.

This year the theme is “Women Leaders, Strong Communities” to recognize the many influential women leaders in social justice organizations worldwide
